Many Injured, Vehicles Destroyed As Petrol Tanker Explodes In Lagos
Scores of persons have been recorded injured after a petrol tanker exploded at Mile 2, off Oshodi/Apapa Expressway in Lagos on Thursday.
The incident left ten vehicles burnt as well.
Goods estimated to be around millions of naira were razed by fire.
It was reported that the affected truck, which loaded the substance from one of the tank farms along the expressway, was heading outwards Apapa.
However, on getting to a bad section of the road, the tanker overturned, spilling its content and was engulfed in fire within minutes.
The loud noise left some drivers in shocked, who were sleeping in their trucks, awaiting the right time to hit the road.
They scattered in different directions looking for safety.
Unfortunately for drivers of other trucks behind, they could not manoeuvre their ways because of the bad section of the road.
They abandoned their trucks and managed to run for their lives.
The fire also affected some trucks on the other side of the road waiting for their turn to drive into the port.
